Introducing the “Passion Interview” series: a conversation with Saya Hillman
Kicktable is thriving to be an inspiration and discovery platform. We do not only want to help you to discover and book authentic experiences. We are also here to get you inspired and excited by the possibilities of life. We have decided to interview inspiring passionate people who are doing what they love and ask them very simple questions.
We are starting with Saya Hillman, an “accidental entrepreneur” organizing cool in-person events in Chicago. Saya was recently listed among “20 young professionals to watch in 2012” by Business Insider.
Hello Saya; in one sentence: who are you?
I am an “Accidental Entrepreneur” who has cobbled together a living via hanging out in coffeehouses, meeting quality folk while wearing slippers and sitting on her couch, and performing bad improvisation in front of 700.
What do you do?
I am the Owner of Mac ‘n Cheese Productions, a business that helps people live a Life of Yes.
How would you describe your passion?
Enrepreneurial-everything! People, projects, thoughts, blogs, software…
Current project you are passionate/excited about?
Fear Experiment: People “bad” at an art form (dance and improvisation this time around) sign up to work with a teacher and 19 other “bad” performers for three months, and then perform in front of 750 people at one of Chicago’s most renowned theaters. The relationships formed are amazing.
How do you get inspired?
Helping others connect. Using my talents to bring happiness to others. Being able to pay the bills just doing what I love.
How do you discover interesting things (online/offline)?
Go to events solo. Introduce myself to everyone (in a conversational-way). Go to events where I’m “out of my league.
Craziest Kicktable experience you can think of?
A crazy brainstorming workshop hosted by a super creative person. Everyone comes with a problem and a 5 minute presentation on the problem; everyone does a group brainstorm to fix problem for 10 minutes.
Best moment/experience you had in life?
Every day that I don’t have to go anywhere for work, don’t have a boss, and can go to Tuesday morning yoga or Thursday afternoon post office.
Most inspiring travel destination?
Amsterdam. Yay bikes!
Favorite drinks?
Is a doughnut a drink? Cause I love doughnuts.
Bonus: last tweet was…Arts ‘n crafts, wine, sweets and entrepreneurs? Yes please!
